271 Tolstoy, January 19th 1932 from Friedrich and Rosina Dollinger
In God, dear sister Rosina with all your children. Thank God, we are all and wish you the same most heartily. Yesterday night we and the Jutzys were with the Rsch widow, and there we were told that there was a song on the radio, especially for you, Rosina. And that is why we were talking a lot about you. But there is not mush use in that and therefore I cast a lot: I opened the Bible and found Psalm 77/2-11. And as we have known each other very well for 50 years, well think of each other in love, as long as we have the spiritual life, because death will cause changes. But where is anyone who is alive and does not contemplate death? Now that we have arrived at the evening of our lives, well think of each other in prayer and remain faithful to the end, for faith will hold good at the Last Judgement.
We thank you very much for the portrait (photo) and for the good wishes for Christmas and the New Year, and we wish you the same and remain your loving friends to the end.
Friedrich and Rosina Dollinger
Fare well until we see each other again.
Matter of interest: a ritual of casting lots by opening the Bible and finding a helpful text there.
