Brown County Fairgrounds "Red Willow Band" Performances enhance Gypsy Day week Sterling, a six-piece band, will be playing on the campus green, Monday, September 29, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sterling consists of lead vocalist, Michael Linden, with the backup voices of guitarist Todd Peterson, bass guitarist Paul Cassidy and keyboardist Dwight Azen. Guitarist Paul Koloc, along with Peterson and Azen, make up the in-strumental section of the group. Backing up the group is drummer Michael Sandell. Their music is harmonic, melodic, solid and dynamic from light vocal rock to rock and roll at its best. Sterling Jim O'Brien and Ken Sevara make up the comedy team of O'Brien and Sevara. They will present a comedy presentation on Monday, September 29, at 8 p.m., in the Johnson Fine Arts Center. Their show consists of over 100 celebrity impressions, from Edith Bunker to Howard Cosell. They also keep their audiences roaring with self-produced sound effects, from trains and planes to musical instruments. O'Brien and Sevara have performed at college concerts, Playboy clubs and top night spots since their debut two years ago. Audiences, whether young, hip, sophisticated or ancient, are sure to enjoy the comedy antics of O'Brien and Sevara. Jim O'Brien and Ken Sevara As part of the Gypsy Day entertainment, Northern is presenting the amazing "Mr. Fingers," a hypnotist, whose real name is Iry Weiner. Mr. Weiner is a sleight-of- hand humorist, a paranormalist, a psychologist of extrasensory preception (ESP), and a lecturer. In his programs, he performs feats of mind control and thought reading. During the first week of school, Northern received a box of predictions for Gypsy week. These have been locked in the safe in Bernie Daschel's office, unread, to be opened Tuesday evening of Gypsy week. Mr. Weiner first went on the road as a one-man program entitled, "An Evening with Iry Weiner," in September of 1973. His performances have been rated as excellent and intriguing, and are highly recommended by those who have seen him perform. Mr. Fingers will present a magic show at the Johnson Fine Arts Center, Tuesday, September 30 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Mr. Fingers Mark Henley will be in concert at the Coffee House in the Wolves Den, Saturday, October 4, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Fairchild In addition to the numerous other activities planned for Gypsy Day week, a Sadie Hawkins dance sponsored by the Union Operations Board (UOB) social entertainment committee will be held on Tuesday, September 30, from 9 to 12 in the Union Ballroom. The dance, something new in the line-up of Gypsy Day activities, will feature the band Fairchild. Prizes will be awarded to those best-dressed in hillbilly costumes, with first place being $20, second place $15, and third place $10. The UOB committee consists of approximately 30 Northern students. Ac-cording to Robert Dalzell, chairman of the social entertainment committee, - Each student has contributed much time and effort in coordinating Gypsy Day ac-tivities, and urges everybody to attend." So, girls ask the guys, guys ask the girls, get your courtin' duds on, and do some heavy foot-stomping.
