Imogene Irene Schwab, 87, of Strasburg Imogene Irene Schwab, 87, of Strasburg, was called to her heavenly home on the early morning of Friday, July 1,2016, at the Strasburg Care Center. Imogene was born Feb. 28, 1929. to Leopold and Kath-erine (Nicholas) Schwahn in Emmons County. She at-tended St. Benedict's School in Strasburg, where she graduated in 1947. She went on to attend Ellendale State Teacher's College where she studied to be an elementary school teacher. Following graduation, Imogene taught country school for one year. OnJune 14,1948,Imogene married the love of her life, Joseph "Juddy" Schwab. The first two years of marriage were spent in Fargo where Juddy attended Molar Barber College. In 1951, they re-turned to the Schwab Family Homestead where Imogene worked endless hours cook-ing, gardening, canning, and helping with whatever farm chores she could while caring for her children. Imogene and Juddy were blessed with 10 children. In 1975, the family moved to Strasburg. It was then that Imogene started her career at the Strasburg Care Center. She worked in various capacities, first, as a nurse's aide, kitchen aide, and eventually the activities director; a position that she was very proud to serve in. Her love for others and car-ing nature continued after retirement when she became a volunteer at the care center. Imogene was a social woman and participated in various community events and activities. She was a member of St. Mary's Soci-ety, Women's Bible Study, Social Action Committee, and the VFW Auxiliary. In addition, she was exception-ally crafty, enjoying sewing, crocheting, embroidery and quilting beautiful pieces. Imogene was known for her genuine gift to care for Imogene Schwab others. A wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she was caring and affectionate not only to her husband, children, and grand-children, but to everyone that was fortunate enough to know her. She is survived by her children, Dennis, Duane (Sharon), Daryl (Shirley), Daniel (Kris), Cheryl, John, Mary Jo (Mario) Stan-islao, Lanette (Dave) Wald, Charlene (Dave) Durski, and Joe (Angie); grandchil-dren, Michael, John, Dawn (Brad) Rexine, Chad, An-gela (James) Kirk, Matthew, Stacy (Dan) Radke, Stepha-nie, Mario, Sarah, Brady, Joey, Keaton and Carter; and great- grandchildren, Taylor, Madyson, James and Matthew; siblings, Sr. Mary Myles Schwahn, Rose (Merritt) Powell, Aloys, Lar-ry (Maxine) Schwahn, Kathy (Chris) Reimer; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry (Evelyn) Schwab, Florence Klein, Irene Lipp, La Verne (Nick) Feist, Antonia Baumgartner, Betty Schwab, Edna Schwab, Adeline Schwab and James Huber; and dearfriend, Chris-tine Dosch. Imogene was preceded in death by her beloved husband Joseph Schwab; parents Leopold and Katie Schwahn; father and mother-in-law John and Magdalena Schwab; brothers-in-law, John, James and Clarence; and sister-in-law Clara Huber. Special thanks to the staff at the Strasburg Care Center for their loving care of our mother. We will never be able to describe in words what mom meant to us. She was the Queen of our home, the Queen of Dad's heart, and Queen of our lives. We Love You Mom. A funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Strasburg celebrated by the Rev. Jason Signalness and the Rev. Leon-ard Eckroth. Song leader was Kellie Wikenheiser. Organist was Delores Wikenheiser. Scripture reader was Sister Mary Myles Schwahn. Gift bearers were Carter and Ke-aton Schwab, Sarah Durski and Madyson Rexine. Mass servers were Jordy n and Jessa Heidrich. Music was "Be Not Afraid," "One Day at aTime," "Rejoice and be Glad," "On Eagles' Wings" and "How Great Thou Art." Casketbearers were Chad Schwab, Brady Schwab, Joe Schwab, John Schwab, Mario Stanislao and Brad Rexine. Honorary casketbearers were the VFW Auxiliary. Burial was in the church cemetery.
