Dear Mr. Roesch!
I want to thank you with all my heart for the amiable letter of December 1950. Unfortunately, due to the fact that my wife was very ill, it was not possible for me to write right away. Now things are going better again.
Not much new going on in Germany. As you are probably aware, we now have 2 Governments, one in the east and a west government. Germany is in tension. West Germany has many residents, but yet people continue to arrive. Room is less and many, many people are without work. Those that have work must care for those without work. Because of this, things are very high in price. Life is very unsettled here. Will we have one Germany again? We are not in a good situation here, but God will help us. We believe in God and when many, many people no longer believe, its their fault. (Im thinking here about those in the east-zone) God has helped by your efforts, and for this we must always be thankful to God and you.
As Im writing this to you, I hope that you can come to Germany soon. It would make us very glad, if you would visit us. Please write when you can come.
How is your wife and how are your children? We hope all are healthy!
For (not clear) we sent you heartfelt greetings!
Your,
Wilhelm Schumacher
Many, many, greeting from Rosemarie
